Artist Statement
When I started my process, I originally wanted to take pictures inside and outside and contrast the two while using different camera perspectives. As I shot my first roll of film I realized I wanted to focus on images inside in studio lighting from different angles. This was because I could control the lighting. I experimented with different intense lighting from one side at a time and from above my subject. My focus became getting different angles or profiles in the studio lighting. I chose this because I liked the images with heavy contrast on the face, and when I took pictures from different angles, there was a dramatic lighting contrast. I used this technique for four of my images and took pictures of Joe from different angles with a zoom lens. The images in my gallery came out very sharp and clear especially after cleaning them up in photoshop.
